Difficulty: None, trail accessible to everyone!
The Orgère nature trail was developed close to the Orgère entrance to the park

Take the trail marked "pente douce" which can be found 100 metres from the Orgère entrance to the park. The trail winds down close to the Notre Dame Des Neiges chapel. Follow it for approximately 5 minutes towards the North, then turn South after the small bridge. At the intersection with the GR5, close to some beautifully restored chalets; you will find a sign indicating the beginning of the nature trail.

The trail climbs gently and is surrounded by an old forest of Larch and Pine. Some of these trees are hundreds of years old and a 400 year old Larch root can be seen at the edge of the trail. Along the length of the trail you will find nine boards with information on your surroundings, the geology of the valley, le pic noir, the names of flowers, how to identify different conifers, the red ant... The undergrowth is essentially composed of rhododendrons, "bear grapes" and bilberries. Without leaving the trail you can observe a large variety of flowers, gentians, anemones, renoncules...
If you are
an early-riser, quiet and patient you will spot birds, squirrels, chamois and at the end of the trail, in June, female ibex and their young, through binoculars at the Aiguille Doran.
The nature trail ends at table 10. At the next intersection, ignore the trail on your right which climbs to the Masse mountain pass (Col de la Masse) and take the trail on your left. It crosses the river at the bottom of the valley and joins the trail which leads to the entrance of the Vanoise National Park. We readily recommend you stop for a delicious snack at the Orgère
refuge after this hike.
